Mama & Me Mini Session with Emily-May Photography in Kamloops, BC

There is something special about the bond between mother and daughter - it is STRONG. There is nothing like it. A piece of yourself walking around. A tiny you that loves to argue and usually wins. Your heart.

It was so great catching up with this mama and her daughter, it had been a couple years since I had last photographed them! They were up for it all. Even climbing up a giant rock and looking like royalty! I was really inspired after this shoot to make sure I capture myself present with my kids - they grow up so dang fast. Can’t wait for your next booking! xo

Mama dresses are both in my client closet, both unlined so you can wear a body suit or slip underneath. The lace one is by North of Esme and then sheer was handmade by a photographer in the US!

Kamloops Photographer - Family Session in Peterson Creek Park

Send me ALL the big families! I loved this session so much. It’s a very interesting dynamic capturing siblings with a gap in ages. I have a large family with 7 siblings so I do have a little bit of knowledge balancing it.

I didn’t have to do a single head swap on any of these images - I talked with Jaime about authenticity and how she loved the sneaks showing the mannerisms and personality of each child and I totally agreed. I use head swaps very sparingly, and typically only in large groups or posed formals. The only other time I use them is if I’ve missed something on the technical side (ie out of focus). I love relaxed family sessions filled with play, interaction and fun!

It’s a crazy month coming up so I may fall behind on blog posts! I’m still around just busy, busy!

Kamloops Photographer - Family Session & First Birthday Photos with Emily-May Photography

We started this session off with 1st birthday photos! I was so excited to get to use my birthday board from Love Designs for this session. Ben looks so CUTE!

After the portraits of the star of the show, we moved on to do some family photos.

This photo I saw in a dream the night before. I wasn’t very clear in my direction and I was kind of hanging off the hill but they nailed it. I wanted to capture the look of absolute love with dad looking at mom and mom looking at babe.

From here, we walked a little higher up the hill to get to a spot I saw on my last walk through Peterson Creek.

This was one of my favourite captures - Jessita’s wedding ring in focus and a sweet unprompted moment.

I think the first birthday is also SUCH a big deal for mom and dad! They should celebrate too. They made it. That first year is tough (not that the years after are easier, but it’s a big deal!)

So glad we stopped for these ones just before the long awaited cake smash!

And lastly - the light was so perfect I asked if I could take a few more of the happy couple as we came to the clearing just steps from the parking lot.

I have been shooting SO many family sessions lately and I am loving it. I do still have some dates available so if you’re interested in setting something up, send me a message. I had a small hand in styling this one. Elizabeth’s blue dress I found on Amazon for $50! It looks AMAZING on her and I’m so glad she bought it. Her little boy happens to be Leo sized so I pulled one of his shirts and a set of suspenders I also bought off Amazon that came in a 4 pack (woo options!) Her Fiance’s second shirt I pulled from Kyle’s closet.. AND OF COURSE, the ever amazing dress from North of Esme.
