Maddy and Me Brand Rep

If you know me, you know that I LOVE supporting local when I can. I’m so happy I was tagged on Maddy and Me’s (formerly Maddy’s Accessories) post when they were searching for a few local brand reps. From the very beginning Sarah was patient as I took my sweet time measuring Ella (me and measuring tapes don’t go well together). She advised on what size would work best in the parameters and it was a perfect fit. I am always happy to trust the experts, and as a mama herself she wanted us to have a piece that would last while also being versatile. The 1st item we received was Ella’s Made to Order Pullover Tunic Dress which was picked out by the shop owner Sarah - I took it out of the package and.. immediately asked if there were adult sizes available! It’s adorable AND it has pockets!!! So how amazing is that! Ella has worn it approximately 8000 times, it hasn’t lost any shape, didn’t shrink and is still soft and cozy. It’s also great for layering! So a perfect investment piece from fall right to spring!

And then there was a sale and I grabbed A BUNCH of different pieces. Lucky for me the colours were all complimentary so they pair well with the other items. AND the slouchy beanie toque which I ordered in the small size for Leo also magically fits Ella! (But I think Leo rocks it best!) AND it’s reversible. So double score. You can see Ella rocking it here with raglan sweater in Ginger. Leo is wearing it if you keep on scrolling! Both tops worked well with the made to order leggings. Ella mostly wears leggings so the fact that they are available in a variety of colours is awesome.. and dangerous.

This quick little shoot we did in 5 minutes and honestly it was so sweet, it could have been our Christmas card all on it’s own. Leo’s “Sleigh Hair Don’t Care” shirt is currently sold out but there are a number of other SUPER cute options in the shop.

AND finally, I took these the day we locked ourselves out of the house. But you know… worth it.

Official Review: We love Maddy and Me! Thank you so much for the opportunity to brand rep for you, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will be back for more pieces in the spring!

Black Box Container Home

If you’re like me and always on the lookout for new and exciting locations to shoot at or visit - look no further than the Black Box Container Home. A true home away from home, Black Box has everything you could hope for as a vacation destination, studio rental or even just a quiet staycation for two. Your experience is tailored to be memorable, relaxing and picture perfect.

The most exciting thing? Black Box is currently accepting 2020 Adventure Elopements!! So if you are looking for something romantic, intimate and outside the box (pun intended 😜) you’ve found it. I don’t think there is anyone that cares so deeply about people than this lady right here, so I’m certain she would make your elopement the experience of a lifetime!

I was lucky enough to have hosted a mini marathon out at Black Box before the end of 2019! I was blown away at the images I got to create with these two beautiful attendees. It’s important with boudoir that you feel comfortable - and this space feels safe the moment you get there. Makeup for the marathon was expertly applied by Ginger Turley Artistry! I’m so excited for what this year has in store, thanks for following along!

Kamloops Event Photographer Sam’s 1st Birthday

My final two weeks of work were busy! I was finishing up all those beautiful Christmas Mini sessions and shooting for some pretty wonderful clients.

I always try to treat my clients as family - but I felt truly at home at this 1st birthday. I left this delightful afternoon with 3 of my fave cupcakes from Cocoa Dot Cakes (red velvet, in case you were wondering), goody bags for my own kids stuffed full with crayons and colouring books and candy that I also ate, a delicious lunch and a few hugs. How lucky am I?! I really did leave feeling like I have the best job in the world.

The first ever instant print for Emily-May Photography!

I was so lucky to receive an HP Sprocket for my birthday and was able to send a photo from my camera to my phone, edit in Lightroom and print within 5 minutes! Technology is so amazing.

You can really feel how loved Sam is and how much his friends and family care for him. All those little cousins keeping a watchful eye out for the little guy, aunts sneaking pinchfuls of chubby cheeks, grandma and grandpa grabbing some kisses and mom and dad just radiating joy - it was a day to remember! Plus - there were sparklers. And sparklers are THE BEST! Happy Birthday Sam! And thank you for inviting me to your party. See you for a play date soon!!

Black Lace Reclamation Dress - 3 Ways To Wear

As most of you know, I love shooting Reclamation dresses! They are unique, romantic & versatile pieces you could shoot over & over and you would never tire from them. I’m bringing in an amazing design in the new year that I can’t wait for. Trista and her team are incredible designers and I swear to you the dresses are infused with magic inevery stitch. She is also a huge supporter of fellow artists and creators. I love signing in to watch her Instagram live videos to catch a glimpse of her daily creations or musings.

I rented my first Reclamation dress via KCL Photography’s Travelling Dress Canada group. She created a group for Canadian photographers so that we could all have the opportunity to shoot with these incredible dresses.

I was lucky to have 3 shoots while I had the black lace dress with me! This first shoot was with Ginger Turley of Ginger Turley Artistry. We wanted to create portraits that were a true representation of her style & of herself and I think we accomplished just that.

P.S. To get that dust shot, I had my lovely assistant Maddisen drive by. I did layer a bit more in but the initial effect was done in shot! So fun!!

This second set I wanted to play with light and explore this beautiful location a little bit more. I shot a previous Reclamation dress here and didn’t want the two to look remotely the same. Kyla is always up to create together and her red hair against this background was perfect. We also shot some outdoor boudoir - but more on that later! ;) We created a high fashion look and I also got to play with my 14 mm lens. I don’t always get to bring that bad boy out but when I do it makes magic.

This third set was a year in the making. Danielle Anderson of Renegade Beauty and I designed this with hopes of it getting published in Gilded Magazine. We wanted to shoot something a little bit spooky, we love dramatic shots and we reaaaally wanted to incorporate gold leaf with Danielle’s own spin on the look. We are so grateful to have been published among the other very talented international artists. With just 30 minutes to shoot, and only 10 minutes of that still during daylight this was the most challenging shoot. Thank goodness for flash! It turned out exactly how I imagined it and it wouldn’t have been the same without each person involved.
